Even though James Gunn’s big DC announcement was all about a new continuity and a new lineup for the DC Universe, Robert Pattinson’s version of the Dark Knight will live on, but in a different universe called “DC Elseworlds.”
When Will The Batman 2 Be Released?
Part II of The Batman will come out on October 3, 2025. As part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s updated DC universe schedule, the release date was announced. Reeves and Mattson Tomlin are currently working on the script, and Reeves just signed a big deal with DC Studios to develop the “Batverse,” which already has a number of spinoffs in the works, like shows about The Penguin and Arkham Asylum.
Fans were also told by producer Dylan Clark that the next album will come out faster. Clark told Brandon Davis of ComicBook, “I will say for the record that it will be less than five years.”
What Will Be the Plot of The Batman 2?
Our hero and Gotham City are placed in a position that no other Batman film has attempted. While Bruce Wayne may have thwarted The Riddler’s plans to assassinate Gotham’s mayor-elect Bella Reál, the city itself is completely submerged.

Gotham City is vulnerable to a devastating hostile takeover, no doubt influenced by the well-known No Man’s Land storyline and Scott Snyder’s New 52 run Zero Year. Both Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves have expressed interest in bringing the Court of Owls and eventual sidekick Dick Grayson into the picture (AKA Robin).
The Court of Owls is a secret society made up of Gotham’s wealthiest families and corrupt socialities that has been pulling the strings of Gotham for decades. Matt Reeves has proven that he is capable of handling ambitious scope, so introducing this villainous society would be right in his wheelhouse.
Although it would be a significant departure from Robin’s usual origin story, incorporating Dick Grayson into the Court could be a novel way to introduce the character. The Court is notorious for kidnapping circus children and training them to be highly skilled assassins known as Talons. It would be a risky move, given Grayson’s origins in The Flying Grayson’s circus act.
