When it comes to spin-off series and origin stories, the film and television industry are typically risk-averse, but with American Horror Story stars Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson in command, their Netflix series prequel to the drama film One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest was a tremendous hit.
The TV show delves into the origins of the film’s antagonist, the repressive Nurse Mildred Ratched, and how she came to be the figure that audiences in the classic thriller film loved to despise. The series, which premiered in September 2020, was a huge success.
Ratched had mixed reviews from reviewers, with an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 61%, yet it was nominated for four Primetime Emmys, proving that it was undeniably popular with fans.
According to Netflix, 48 million households watched the episode within 28 days of its broadcast, making it the most-watched series launch of 2020.
Given the show’s immense success, a second season appeared necessary. Here’s all we know so far about Ratched season 2’s premiere date, cast, narrative, and other details.
When Will Season 2 of Ratched Come Out?
The show’s first season came out on September 18, 2020, and it had a total of 8 episodes. Now that we know that the first season of the show only showed a happy ending and a little bit about each character, we can say that Miss Mildred Ratched’s real journey will begin in the next season.
Even though there have been a lot of delays, it is likely that the studios will finally start working on the second season of the show in 2023, and it will finally come out this year. But the people who made it haven’t said anything for sure yet.
Also, like the first season, the second season is likely to have about the same number of episodes.

What is the Plot of Ratched Season 2?
To understand the story of the second season, we must first understand that the first season of the show had a nearly happy ending, with every character finding his perfect place, including Mildred, who decided to accept her circumstances and live wherever she is and try to find happiness in it, but things will completely change in the second season of the show.
We all know Mildred has quite a wicked character in the film, so in the second season, we will learn what happens to her that causes such a drastic change in her character. The second season may also introduce several new characters, but nothing has been leaked or confirmed from the creator’s side as of yet.
Who Will Appear in the Cast of Ratched Season 2?
While Gwendolyn and Nurse Ratched spent the final episode of season 1 hiding out in Mexico, we have a feeling they won’t be able to stay away from St Lucia for long. We await their return for Ratched season 2 alongside Sarah Paulson and Cynthia Nixon, in addition to Finn Wittrock, who plays Edmund Tolleson and appears driven to exact revenge on Sarah Paulson and Cynthia Nixon.
Many of the season 1 characters perished too soon, but those who have so far survived will presumably return, even though the two-year time jump at the end of season 1 allows for certain characters to be murdered off-screen.
However, several of the cast members and characters listed below, including Jon Jon Briones’ Dr. Richard Hanover, Charlie Carver’s Nurse Huck Finnigan, Sharon Stone’s Dr. Lenore Osgood, Alice Englert’s Dolly, Corey Stoll’s Charles Wainwright, and Jermaine Williams, are expected to return (Harold).
How Many Episodes Does Ratched Season 2 Have?
Ratched was picked up by Netflix for a two-season run.
When this was said, Netflix said, “Ratched got a straight-to-series order for two seasons and 18 episodes.” What’s On Netflix says that the series got an extra episode on top of what was promised, so there will be a total of 19 episodes.
