Back in December, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Steve Weintraub of Collider that she “wouldn’t rule out” breaking Season 3 into two parts, since it’s become common for streamers to do this to get more viewers.
It looks like she chose to go with that plan in the end, because it was announced that the season would come out in two parts. The first five episodes will be on Netflix on June 29, and episodes six through eight will come out on July 27.
Fans might not like a change of character, but they can rest easy knowing that the showrunner knows where this is all going.
Schmidt Hissrich told Weintraub in the same interview that she is thinking about other spin-offs that grow the world, but she has a “definite endpoint” in mind for The Witcher.
