In a new Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Aug. 27, the 37-year-old subject of “House of Hammer” announced he’s parting with his cherished truck in favor of a more budget-friendly option.
He started in the selfie clip, “So, I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now, this is my truck,”
In the video, Hammer shared, “I bought this 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Pickup as a Christmas gift to myself in 2017. I’ve cherished this truck, taking it on numerous camping trips, cross-country travels, and long road trips. I even took it on one final journey to CarMax.”
He clarified that the video was “not an ad for CarMax” as he showed the company’s sign before getting into the truck for the last time.
“This is because I’m selling my truck. Since returning to L.A., I’ve spent about $400 to $500 on gas, and I just can’t afford it anymore,” Hammer admitted.
The “Death on the Nile” star reminisced about the wonderful memories he created with the truck, including bringing his “kids home from the hospital” and enjoying other “amazing trips.”
Hammer, who shares daughter Harper, 9, and son Ford, 7, with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, said, “But you know what? That’s okay. I got a new car. It’s small, it’s a hybrid, and I’ll probably only spend about $10 on gas each month. Here’s to new beginnings. It’s my birthday tomorrow.”
He noted that on August 28, he would be “starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, and a new life in Los Angeles.”
Hammer concluded by expressing his gratitude for the truck: “I appreciate it all. I hope it serves the next owner just as well.”
