In February 2019, he embarked on a tour with Ella Mai. For Painted, Daye was nominated for four Grammy Awards in November, including Best R&B Album. Daye will open for R&B singer Khalid in New Zealand on November 21, 2019.

“Better” by English artist Zayn was co-written by him on September 25, 2020.

Daye celebrated the 50th anniversary of his album What’s Going On with a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)” on May 21, 2021.
