Whats App Will Soon Let You Block Screenshots of ‘view Once’ Messages

The platform WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is currently developing a feature that would enable users to prevent other people on the network from taking screenshots of messages that have been transmitted with the ‘View Once’ option enabled.

According to a report in WABetaInfo, the instant messaging network has released the functionality with the latest version of WhatsApp (number 2.22.22.3), but for the time being, it is only available for users of the Android beta version.

While WhatsApp has been trying to tighten its privacy and security regulations, the upcoming functionality will be released at the same time.

Users of WhatsApp will have increased control over how their information is received, shared, and kept as a result of the addition of this functionality. Because to the upgrade, it will no longer be possible for a viewer to capture a screenshot of a message that has the “View Once” filter applied to it, regardless of whether the message contains a photo or a video.

An alert that reads “Can’t take screenshots due to security policy” is displayed by WhatsApp whenever a user makes an attempt to capture a screenshot of media that has been set to “View Once.”

Even if the user is able to circumvent this barrier and record the screen or take a screenshot, the resulting film will be blank or black, preserving the media that the sender of the WhatsApp message has shared with the recipient.

The report indicates that only a few Android users who are part of the WhatsApp beta channel are currently able to make use of the feature on the app. However, the tech giant has not yet made an official announcement regarding when it wants to roll out the capability globally for all users of WhatsApp.

During this time, Meta had previously revealed that it is currently conducting tests of new features that will make it simpler for users to switch between Facebook and Instagram.

According to the internet giant, the new capabilities will make it simpler for users to create several accounts and profiles on the social networking platform, as well as access those accounts, and navigate between those profiles.
