Is Hustle Based on a True Story: Explaining Netflix’s Adam Sandler Film
People are speculating as to whether the sports drama Hustle starring Adam Sandler is based on a true story as it is currently streaming on Netflix. We have no issues with that! This query is addressed directly below!
Jeremiah Zagar, Taylor Materne, and Will Fetters collaborated on the screenplay for Hustle, a brand-new original film. Along with Sandler, the movie also stars Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Juancho Hernández, Robert Duvall, and many more.
Hustle was ultimately made available to Netflix subscribers on June 8 following its theatrical debut on June 3. Unsurprisingly, the sports drama rocketed to the top of Netflix’s top 10 movie list very quickly.
As of June 10, it was still holding onto the top rank and showed no symptoms of dethroning itself. The cast includes numerous well-known actors and athletes, and the story is compelling enough to hold anyone’s interest. Its immediate popularity was therefore expected.
Since many sports drama movies are based on genuine stories, it makes logical to wonder if Hustle is one of them. Find out below if the new film is partially or entirely based on a true story.

How much of Hustle is based on actual events?
You would be very much mistaken if you thought the film Hustle was based on a true story. Just said, it’s a fictionalized piece that’s written and performed beautifully. The character of Stanley Sugerman, played by Adam Sandler, and the character of Bo Cruz, played by Juancho Hernández, are both fictional.
Neither is a real scout and coach for the Philadelphia 76ers basketball club, and neither is a real Spanish streetball player. On the other hand, Juancho Hernangómez is a real NBA player who suits up for the Utah Jazz, and the Philadelphia 76ers are a real NBA franchise.
Players including Trae Young, Jordan Clarkson, Khris Middleton, Aaron Gordon, Kyle Lowry, Seth Curry, Luka Doncic, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Allen Iverson, among many others, make cameo cameos and play themselves in the film.
There you have it, folks. The events of Hustle are not based on any true events. Instead, it is the product of Taylor Materne and Will Fetters’ fertile imaginations.
