Canada-born actor Elliot Page. He has garnered numerous honors, such as an Academy Award nomination, two BAFTA Award nominations, and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, as well as a Satellite Award nomination. In December 2020, Elliot Page came out publicly as transgender. In March 2021, he was the first openly transgender guy to feature on Time’s cover.
Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated actor from “Juno” and “The Umbrella Academy” on Netflix, has revealed he is transgender.
Formerly known as Ellen Page, Elliot addressed his social media fans with the following message:
Hi buddies, I would like to inform you that I am transgender, that my pronouns are he/they, and that my name is Elliot. I am fortunate to be writing this. Being here. To have reached this point in life.
I am indebted to the extraordinary people who have supported me during this trip. I cannot begin to describe how extraordinary it feels to finally love myself enough to follow myself.
I’ve been incessantly motivated by so many members of the trans community. Thank you for your bravery, generosity, and tireless efforts to make this world more inclusive and compassionate.
I will provide whatever assistance I can and continue to work towards a society that is more caring and equitable,’ he added.

I adore being trans. And I enjoy being homosexual. And the more I cherish myself and truly accept who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart expands, and the more I flourish. Page said, “To all the trans people who face daily harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the danger of violence: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to improve this world.”
Page utilizes both he/him and they/them pronouns and identifies as transgender and non-binary, which means his gender identification is neither male nor female.
Director of Transgender Media at GLAAD, Nick Adams, stated, “Elliot Page has given us amazing characters on-screen and has been an ardent advocate for all LGBTQ individuals.
He will now serve as an example for innumerable trans and non-binary individuals. Everyone who identifies as transgender deserves the opportunity to be themselves and be accepted for who they are. Today, we honor the amazing Elliot Page.”
In 2005, Page made a name for himself outside of his own Canada with the release of his vengeance thriller “Hard Candy.” Two years later, he starred in the classic independent film “Juno” by Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
His noteworthy performances include Kitty Pryde in the “X-Men” franchise, Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” “Whip It!” and Sony’s “Flatliners” revival. He has produced and acted in films such as “Tallulah” and “Freeheld,” and made his directorial debut last year with a film on the environmental racism faced by people of color and First Nations communities in Canada.

Page was one of the most visible openly gay performers in Hollywood prior to his transformation. The declaration on Tuesday enhances his legacy and adds him to a tiny but rising group of out trans artists and Hollywood icons.
This includes both performers (Laverne Cox, Trace Lynette, and Brian Michael Smith) and creators (The Wachowski Sisters and Joey Soloway, creator of “Transparent”)
Variety revealed the news of Netflix’s breakthrough overall content production deal with Janet Mock, a prominent trans storyteller, and director whose credits include “Pose” and “Hollywood.”

Elliot Page beamed as he said that his life “changed drastically” after he decided to live his truth.
The actor, best known for his role in Netflix’s smash hit “The Umbrella Academy,” came out as transgender in December 2020, saying that his pronouns would be “he/they.” In a statement on Instagram, Page said his new name would be Elliot.
Even though he got a lot of mixed reactions from strangers on social media, Page said that the people closest to him welcomed the news with open arms. “I feel really thankful for that,” the 35-year-old said on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
“Most people were not surprised. It’s something I’ve been talking about with a lot of people in my life.” Page says he has learned to ignore negative comments from online “keyboard warriors” who don’t like him.
“What I want to focus on right now, and what has been so amazing, is the level of joy and presence I feel,” he said.
“I feel in a way that I really never thought was possible for a very long time. So that’s really what I’m focusing on and enjoying the most. But, of course, times can be overwhelming.”
Page said it’s “unfortunate” that he still has to deal with negative comments about his decision to change his gender.
“It’s like, we’re all on the same team here, ya know? “Because people are so obsessed with the binary and how we’re all supposed to live our lives, we all have these expectations, these limits, and these constraints,” he said. Page said that his life has gotten “dramatically” better.
“And I hope that people who don’t like me can maybe try to hear that or accept it on some level,” the actor said.
