Fans, however, did not accept his claims and continued to refer to Shemar Moore as gay. However, in an interview with BET.com that same year, he denied the claims and stated that he was not gay.
Moore said that he had dated many ladies in his life and joked that if they bring their girlfriend over for the weekend, they would find out whether Shemar More was gay. He also stated that he had LGBT followers who adored him and were inspired by him. However, it did not turn him gay. He is a member of the L.G.B.T.Q. club, although he is not gay.
Biography & Early Life
Shemar Franklin Moore (born April 20, 1970) is an American actor. Moore’s father was African-American and his mother, who was born in the Roxbury area of Boston, Massachusetts, was of Irish and French-Canadian origin. His mother, who had a degree in mathematics, worked as a teacher in Bahrain and Denmark.
Moore traveled with her to Denmark as a baby, and then to Bahrain when he was four, where he attended a British private school until the age of seven. His grandma is from Quebec City, Canada.
Moore cites social upheaval, interracial partnerships being taboo, and bigotry in the U.S. in the 1970s as part of the reason his mother fled abroad with him. Returning to the U.S. in 1977, the family moved to Chico, California, where his mother worked at a clinic, before subsequently moving to Palo Alto.
His major performances include Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless (1994–2005), Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds (2005–2016), and the starring character of Sergeant II Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson on S.W.A.T. (2017–present) all on CBS. Moore was also the third permanent presenter of Soul Train, from 1999 until 2003.
Moore has earned eight NAACP Image Awards as well as the 2000 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role on The Young and the Restless. He was nominated for a People’s Choice Award in 2016 for his work on Criminal Minds.
Shemar Moore’s Professional Career
Moore began his career on The Young And The Restless, where he played Malcolm Winters for nearly a decade. However, he opted to quit the show in November 2004. He later reappeared as a recurrent cast member before leaving the show in 2007.

Moore hosted the syndicated edition of Soul Train until 2003 during his stint on the CBS TV soap show. Moore originally featured on Criminal Minds as Derek Morgan in the seventh episode of the first season in 2005, and she left the show in March 2016. At the same time, he played a number of supporting roles.
Moore eventually got to play the primary character in C.B.S.’ S.W.A.T. Soon after, his career took a turn for the worst. He is well-known for his part in S.W.A.T. But he continued to explore as he was cast as Randall Handel in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and also stars as the Unnecessary Action Hero.
