With Thorfinn engaged in one of the few actual fights we’ve seen him in this season, it appears I was mistaken on both of my predictions from last week. Gardar and Arnheid did manage to flee, despite the fact that he lost, but tragically, this seems to be just the beginning.
According to the preview for the following week, Thorfinn and Einar will likely face consequences for their disobedience. perhaps though they were so close to being set free, I could imagine them all receiving harsher terms or perhaps death sentences.
Arnheid should be punished for freeing Gardar and attempting to flee, but when Ketil finds out that she is carrying his child, I have a hunch he could spare her.
According to the teaser, Ketil might potentially attempt to murder Thorfinn and Einar himself as retaliation. Given that Ketil is not typically a murderer, if that were the case, I could see them rapidly changing his mind.

Recap of Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 17!
Thorfinn and Snake fight at the start of the episode. Snake wields a sword to battle, but Thorfinn merely uses his hands, barely dodging each strike. They both start to wonder how either man wound up on the farm as they continue to display their talents.
Snake and his men keep a careful eye on Arnheid in anticipation of Gardar’s visit because they think he has escaped. Snake eventually has the upper hand against Thorfinn during the struggle, placing himself in front of a wounded Gardar to end the conflict.
Snake decides to stab Sverkel in the chest despite Arnheid and Sverkel’s attempts to plead with him. However, Gardar suddenly appears and shows that he is still alive.
Gardar puts Snake in a chokehold after disclosing that he is alive and makes an effort to suffocate him. Thorfinn tries to stop him, but Arnheid intervenes to prevent Gardar from killing Snake.
Even though they successfully flee the property using Sverkel’s wagon, Gardar passes away in Arnheid’s arms before they can leave.
