As we talked about what to award as the winners in the TechRadar Choice Awards 2023, which were sponsored by Norton, one thing that kept coming up was how much the services are costing.
Netflix just raised its prices again, and this comes after a crackdown on password sharing that gained the streaming service nine million new subscribers and 20% more money.
As subscription costs have gone up across the board (not just Netflix, but also Hulu, Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus, and Amazon Prime Video), viewers looking to save money will be looking at which streaming service offers the best value for money, quality, and variety of options. Max came out as a new service in May of this year after Warner Bros. Discovery chose to combine HBO Max and Discovery Plus into a single huge streaming service.
HBO Max users did have to pay more because of the merger, but it’s hard to argue that Max isn’t still a great deal for the money after seeing how much more content it has.
Another group of people who really like Max is Max itself: it was recently named the best streaming service by 2,000 people in the US, and its own shows keep getting great reviews.
Some new shows that have been added to Max are big films like “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus,” as well as small dramas like “Full Circle,” directed by Steven Soderbergh, and dark comedies like “Barry.”
Max is also a good place to watch films, like the interesting Telemarketers and The Vow, as well as the strange and funny slice-of-life show How To with John Wilson.
Max is without a doubt one of the best places to watch movies. Its huge library has a lot of movies from many different types, such as horror, sci-fi, drama, action, and oldies. What else does Max have? The Discovery Plus merger brought in a lot of lifestyle-focused shows from TLC, Food Network, HGTV, and other well-known cable TV networks. For anime fans, there’s Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and Studio Ghibli. Besides that, there is now live news from CNN, which is also owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
