‘It Ends With Us’ Movie: Cast, Trailer, Release Date, and More

The highly successful novel “It Ends With Us” written by Colleen Hoover is going to be adapted for the big screen.

Blake Lively will bring to life one of Hoover’s most iconic characters, Lily Bloom, who struggles with the cyclical cycle of domestic abuse, in the adaptation, which is scheduled to hit theaters on August 9th.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the novel, which was initially released in 2016, became a popular suggestion on BookTok, which is the literary corner of TikTok. The tale was inspired by Hoover’s own parents. There have been 157 weeks since the book was first published on the New York Times’ paperback trade fiction bestselling list as of the 14th of June.

However, both the novel and the film adaptation of it have been met with a great deal of controversy about a variety of issues, ranging from the subject matter to the casting selections.

In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight” that took place at Hoover’s annual event, Book Bonanza 2024, Lively attempted to allay any fears that the book’s readers might have.

I believe that we simply did our best to honor the book and honor the fans, and I think that we truly made something that works even by itself,” Lively said. “Some people will always enjoy a book better than a movie, and some people will always like a movie better than the book,” Lively said.

‘It Ends With Us’ What Will Be The Plot?

After college, Lily Bloom opens a florist in Boston. She spoke during her father’s funeral in Plethora, Maine. Lily hates her parents because her mother masked her father’s abuse.

Rereading her childhood journals, Lily remembers her first love Atlas Corrigan, who entered the military but promised to return. Combat her love for Atlas with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid. Both want one other, but Lily wants a relationship and Ryle casual sex. They reunite and date when Lily starts her business.

Ryle violently pushes Lily when she laughs at his casserole spill one night, then apologizes. Lily is upset by her father’s abuse of her mother, but she realizes they’re different from her parents and accepts his apologies but threatens to leave if he hurts her again.

Ryle feels jealous when Lily reconnects with Atlas in his restaurant, despite her claim that Atlas is just a friend. Atlas secretly gives Lily his number after witnessing her injuries, fearing Ryle is assaulting her.

In Vegas, Lily and Ryle marry impulsively and stay together until he finds Atlas’ number and pushes her down the stairs. He confesses to accidently shooting and murdering his brother Emerson as a child, triggering grief and rage. After Lily forgives him, he reads her childhood memoirs and tries to rape her, knocking her out when she tries to defend herself, thinking she’s having an affair with Atlas.

Lily leaves home and calls Atlas after waking up. She hides her pregnancy with Ryle’s child after he brings her to the hospital. She stays with Atlas for a few days before returning home while Ryle is on a fellowship overseas. Atlas confesses to loving Lily but suppressing it because of Ryle. After understanding her mother’s abuse, Lily notifies her.

Lily reconciles with Ryle and lets him support her in her final months of pregnancy, but she remains emotionally detached. Lily’s daughter was named after Ryle’s brother. After giving birth, Lily tells Ryle she wants a divorce to protect her child from his harshness.

He begs her to reconsider, but when she asks how he would react if his daughter told him her partner was abusing her, he understands and splits. Lily tells her child, “It ends with us.” She seeks to end family brutality.
