A severe storm hit Toronto, leaving over 100,000 people without power on Tuesday, according to a report by the BBC.
Aubrey Drake Graham, known as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, and actor. He is an influential figure in popular music. His mansion ‘The Embassy’ has been submerged in floodwaters.
Drake faced the impact of intense rainstorms in Toronto, documenting his flooded residence on social media.
In an Instagram Story posted on Tuesday, the artist behind “Hotline Bling” captured footage of an unknown individual pushing against glass double doors as water poured from what appeared to be a closet into a bathroom.
The camera panned around the room, showing him wading through ankle-deep water with a broom, striving to remove the water from the area.
Sometimes you have to laugh so you don’t cry, and Drake joked about the hefty bill he’ll face to fix the damage from the rain. He teased about the brown water and compared it to his favorite cocktail.
“This better be an Espresso Martini,” he captioned the video, showing another person trying to keep the doors to another room closed while Drake walks around barefoot with a broom, which probably won’t be much help.
Environment Canada reported that Toronto received nearly four inches of rain due to three separate storms, breaking the city’s rainfall record set in 1941. However, the worst appears to be over, with no significant rainfall expected for the remainder of Tuesday.
According to local meteorologist Dave Phillips, “We received 25 percent more rain in three hours than we typically get in the entire month of July, thanks to the thunderstorms and weather systems that passed through.”
