Vadic’s Ultimatum

The next episode picks up where the last one left off, with Vadic (Amanda Plummer), the leader of the Changelings, taking over the USS Titan-A and demanding that Picard (Patrick Stewart) hand over his son, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), who is the key to opening The Face, a mysterious artifact that Vadic’s masters want.

Vadic says he will kill one crew member every ten minutes until Picard gives in, starting with Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick). Picard won’t give in because he knows that if he does, Vadic won’t spare anyone. With the help of Beverly (Gates McFadden), Geordi (LeVar Burton), Worf (Michael Dorn), Raffi (Michelle Hurd), and Seven of Nine, he tries to find a way to get back in charge of the ship (Jeri Ryan).

In the meantime, Jack is having trouble with his new skills, which include telepathy and telekinesis. He can also get into the minds of other people, which he does when a Changeling kills an engineering officer. Jack sees branches growing all around him and a red door at the end of a long hallway.

Data vs Lore

Data (Brent Spiner), who still has a split personality disorder caused by his evil brother Lore, is Picard and his crew’s only hope (Brent Spiner). Geordi says that he can take down the wall between Data and Lore, but that will cause the two androids to fight over who is in charge. Data will be lost for good if Lore wins.

Picard decides to take a chance and tells Geordi to get rid of the wall. Lore tries to get Data to join him and turn on Picard. This is a mental battle between Data and Lore. Data fights against Lore’s attempts to control him and uses their shared memories and feelings to do so. Data beats Lore and gets rid of him from his system.

Data then takes control of the Titan’s systems and opens an airlock on the bridge, which pulls Vadic and her followers into space. He also helps Shaw and Seven take out Vadic’s ship, the Shrike. Now that Vadic is gone, she no longer poses a threat to Picard and his crew.

The Red Door

Jack gets a visit from Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), who has been saved from the Shrike by Worf and Raffi. Troi can feel what’s going on in Jack’s mind and see what he’s seeing. She tells him to open the red door and see what is on the other side.
