Tom Cruise continues to outperform himself!

At the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday, the actor from “Top Gun: Maverick” won an award for best performance in a movie for his part in the 2022 movie. He gave his acceptance speech in a pre-recorded video that showed him flying a plane.

With the golden popcorn statuette strapped into the passenger seat of the plane, Cruise thanked viewers for choosing for him and said, “I love you, I love entertaining you.”

To be sure, a Paramount official told CNN on Sunday that Cruise did, in fact, fly the plane himself. She also said that Cruise’s plane, a P-51 Mustang, was the same one he flew in “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Cruise is known for doing his own stunts. Last year, he thanked moviegoers for going to see the blockbuster sequel in a video that showed him free-falling from a plane. The video was shared to his verified Instagram account.

The sequel to the 1986 hit “Top Gun,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” was the highest-grossing movie of 2022. This was after years of trouble at the theaters caused by the pandemic. It was also Tom Cruise’s first movie to make a billion dollars.

Overall, Cruise flying a plane to accept an award gives new meaning to what Miles Teller’s character Rooster says in “Top Gun: Maverick”: “It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot.”
