Lamine Yamal was born on July 13, 2007, in Mataro, Barcelona, Catalonia. To a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother. He had a passion for football at a tender age as he spent most of his childhood days in the Barcelona youth football club.

Career
Lamine Yamal began his footballing career at a very young age playing for the FC Barcelona youth team alongside La Masia. He was often regarded as a prospect and was selected alongside other youth team players to train with the first team by Xavi in September of 2022.
He was yet to sign a professional contract with the club but appeared to be one of the best academy players at the club. He eventually made his first team debut for the club on April 29, 2023, when he replaced Gavi in the 83rd minute in a La Liga 4-0 win against Real Betis.
As a youngster, he was able to register a shot on target against former Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and became the youngest player to appear for Barcelona’s first team at 15 years and 9 months.
He won his first title with the club on May 14 2023 after he was registered as part of the squad that won the 2022/23 La Liga season. But unfortunately, he was not around for the title celebration because he was on international duties with the Spanish youth team.
Lamine Yamal got his first start for the club in a 2-0 win over Cadiz on August 20, 2023, at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. He also broke the record of becoming the youngest starter for Barcelona in La Liga at the age of 16. His first start also earned him a standing ovation from fans after he was subbed off with five minutes to go.
He was subsequently named as man of the match after he contributed towards two goals scored by Gavi and Robert Lewandowski in a 4-3 win over rivals Villarreal on August 28, 2023. He also holds the record of being the youngest player to register an assist in La Liga.
