How To Use Manipulation in Starfield? In Starfield’s vast universe, there are a lot of skills waiting to be discovered. Each one gives you a different way to reach your goals in the game. Among these, social skills like Intimidation, Xenosociology, and Instigation give you ways to push others to do what you want, which you can use to your benefit. But there is one skill that stands out for how powerful it could be.
The Manipulation Skill is a unique and specialized skill that lets you influence the actions and choices of non-player characters (NPCs) in a subtle way for a set amount of time. This unique skill lets you learn subtle manipulation and persuasion, which opens up a wide range of options and plans for your space journeys.
The Manipulation Skill makes it easier for you to navigate Starfield’s complicated world. You can use it to persuade a seller to give you better prices, negotiate alliances, or quietly change the subject of a talk to meet your goals. With this skill, players can learn more about how people interact with each other, which deepens their experience and gives them a strategic edge as they travel through space.
What is the Skill of Manipulation?
In Starfield, the Manipulation Skill is a Master-level Social skill. Its usefulness rests on the rank of the skill, and it lets you force NPCs to do what you say for a certain amount of time. The higher your skill rank, the more power you have, and the longer you can control higher-level NPCs.

How to Get the Manipulation Skill?
When you unlock the Manipulation Skill in Starfield, you can choose between two different paths. The usual way is to give your Social Tree 12 skill points. The process takes some time, but once it’s done, the skill is easy to use.
You can also speed up the process by applying to work for Ryujin Industries. When you finish their questline, you get an Internal Neuromap device, which is basically the same as getting the Manipulation skill. But if this is one of your first social skills, you won’t be able to improve it until you’ve put enough skill points into the Social Tree.
How to Use the Manipulation Skill and Get Better at It?
In Starfield, there are only a few easy steps you need to take to use the Manipulation Skill. First, you’ll have to point your Scanner at the NPC you want to target. Then, choose the skill you want to use along with an item or another NPC to start your order. You can make your target move, open doors, and do a lot more.
If you’re playing on PC, press the [F] key to turn on the hand reader. Then, press the [E] key to open the Social Skills menu. Use the mouse wheel to move through the skills in this menu until you find the “Manipulation” skill. Press [E] again to turn it on, hoping that it will work this time. Keep in mind that it won’t always work and that it only helps people whose minds aren’t as strong.
For Xbox players, press the [LB] Bumper to turn on the hand reader, and then press [A] to get to the Social Skills screen. Press [A] once more to choose the Manipulation Skill, and then wait to see what happens.
It’s pretty easy to get better at the Manipulation Skill. To get to Rank 2, you have to get 5 different NPCs to do what you want. At Rank 3, the number of NPCs goes up to 25. To get to Rank 4, you have to control the thoughts of 50 NPCs. There are no punishments for failing to manipulate targets, so you can quickly level up this skill by going to a big city and influencing any NPCs you meet.
