Blake Ellender Lively is an American actress. Born in Los Angeles, Lively is the daughter of actor Ernie Lively, and made her professional debut in his directorial project Sandman.

In a recent MTV UK interview promoting her film It Ends with Us alongside co-star Isabela Ferrer, the 36-year-old actress shared that it wasn’t until she met her husband, Ryan Reynolds, that she began to embrace the name her mother chose for her.
“Oh my God, you’ve said it before,” Ferrer said in an Instagram clip shared by the music television network, trying her best to think of Lively’s non-traditional middle name.
“Have I? I don’t really talk about it much,” Lively responded.
Noticing her co-star’s difficulty recalling, Lively started offering Ferrer hints to assist her. She said, “It’s the first part of my middle name if you write diary entries.”
“Ellen? Your middle name is Ellen?” Ferrer asked.
In the 2016 novel that inspired the film, It Ends with Us, Lily Bloom (portrayed by Ferrer and Lively at different times) frequently writes to Ellen DeGeneres in her diary.
Although Ferrer didn’t get the name exactly right, she was close with her guess of “half of it.” Before Lively could offer another hint, Ferrer exclaimed, “Elenor? Elenora?”
With Ferrer still guessing to no avail, Lively said, “Yeah, kind of, but with a ‘D.’ ”
“It’s not a name. My mom, I think, made it up by accident,” she added after seeing Ferrer still appearing to be confused. “It’s not a word, it doesn’t exist,” Lively assured her.
After Ferrer guessed “Delanor” incorrectly, Lively eventually revealed that her middle name is “Ellender.”
The next challenge was pronouncing it correctly, and Ferrer mistakenly compared it to Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter.
“I’m not Dumbledore, it’s Ellender,” Lively said with a laugh. “Though Dumbledore honestly [would] probably [be] a better option.”
Lively admitted that growing up, she was always “confused” by her middle name.
“So, I always hated it,” she said during the interview, pausing to look at the camera and apologize “if there’s any Ellenders watching this.”
“But my husband loved it, which made me like it more,” Lively said.
Lively mentioned that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, 47, thought her distinctive middle name sounded like “lavender.”
An enthusiastic Ferrer chimed in, agreeing that the name does resemble the plant and noting that it had a regal quality to it.
“It sounds very elegant and graceful,” Ferrer said, adding that the name sounded “royal” as if she should be called “Lady Ellender III.”
