Elizabeth Banks is an American actress, producer and director.
Elizabeth Banks stole the spotlight at the premiere of her new film, Skincare, on Tuesday, August 13, in New York City. The 50-year-old actress dazzled in a silver sequin mini dress with sequins that gradually increased in size towards the hem. She paired the dress with black tights and an oversized black blazer.
Her accessories included black pointed-toe pumps and a silver baguette bag that complemented her outfit perfectly. Banks styled her hair in loose waves and opted for dramatic makeup with dark purple lipstick and soft pink eyeshadow.
Elizabeth Banks also showcased the same glittering outfit during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday. However, she opted to forgo the blazer for this segment, allowing the sparkling dress to take center stage.
In her latest film, Skincare, Banks portrays Hope Goldman, a top celebrity aesthetician whose career is disrupted by a scandal involving a hacked email, allegedly by a rival aesthetician new to town.
The film features a talented cast including Lewis Pullman as Hope’s friend Jordan, alongside Luis Gerardo Méndez, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Nathan Fillion. Directed by Austin Peters, Skincare is based on a script he co-wrote with Sam Freilich and Deering Regan.
Although Skincare is a work of fiction, it draws inspiration from real-life events. Former celebrity aesthetician Dawn DaLuise, who was arrested in 2014 but later acquitted of charges related to a murder-for-hire scheme, has indicated that she may pursue legal action against the film.
Elizabeth Banks, however, stated that she was unaware of DaLuise’s story when she took on the project.
“I didn’t know it at all. I had never heard about it. I was just all in on Hope Goldman and this character and the sort of milieu of L.A.,” she told in July.
The Hunger Games star revealed that her portrayal of Hope Goldman was inspired by a real-life facialist named Matty, whom she used to visit.
“She was very much this Hope Goldman character in my mind, in that she had her own little place on 3rd Street in L.A., and she was recommended to me by an agent — Johnny Depp’s agent — who said, ‘Well, Johnny went to Matty,’ and listed other clients who had gone to Matty.”
“So when I read the script, that’s what I was thinking,” she continued. “I was like, ‘I’m going to base it on Matty.’ “
Skincare is in theaters Aug. 16.
